Yes, when it’s covered in lots of soot again. Is there a problem? I quite liked that look. It added a lot of character, I think. I shall have whatever opinion I wish on the soot state of the paintings in the Sistine Chapel, and it has nothing to do with “True Churchness” or whatever, nor does it really matter to me if it’s as Pope St. Pius V saw. It’s a glorious room regardless, but I liked the soot. Oooh… someone seems a bit cynical.… before it’s covered with soot again?
