Is every manifestation of “virtue ethics” Catholic? Well…I would say not all of them…for of course the purely “classical” Greek and Roman idea of virtue fall short and do not take into account of course Divine Revelation (St. Thomas for example brought them to a perfection). (I did not read the wiki article …but I imagine there will be things we will agree with and things we will not or that we find incomplete)
But yes what has come to be called virtue ethics is an ancient Catholic (and current) way of ethics and the moral life. Virtue indeed is of great importance!
(but note that many modern authors on virtue ethics will not be Catholic…so one must take care in this respect. Instead find Catholic Authors (who of course are faithful to the Church)…such as Cessario OP)
