Sounds like a noble effort…we should all pray and work for peace!

Here’s a lovely picture of the Archbishop of Canterbury greeting Pope Francis.

The Gospel also says, “Do you think I have come to bring peace? I have come not to bring peace but a sword.”
Well, it seems you are getting your swords (and bombs) a lot these days. I would rather have peace. And it appears those meeting in Assisi would also. I haven’t heard one of them say, ‘Let’s make more bombs for Jesus!’

You have said but you have not understood.

If peace equals more feel good and comfort zone evangelization, I would prefer bombs!

Christ is not referring to violence or war. He is speaking in spiritual terms.

Matthew 10:34-38:
34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn “‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law— 36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’
37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it."

Matthew 10:34-38:
Which is what I was referring to. The Pope cannot expect to please everyone all the time. He must speak the truth.
A priest at Mass today said that not attending a same-sex wedding is wrong because it compromises “unity” and “mercy.” Is that the unity God demands?

And everyone left after that. Apparently people would have false unity over Truth.

Wait for what? Oh, I get it. You think I like bashing the Pope!
Hi. No, I could not necessarily predict papal bashing (if that would even be permitted), but I was sure there would be something (“it” is pretty versatile ). Maybe papal trialing.
