Is it illigal in the eyes of the church to attend other churches just to visit while your young. Also I go two or three times a year for my non-Catholic Husband. I do not believe the Bread they serve is in any shape or form related to the body of Christ and blood which is consecrated at our Catholic Church.

When I was 19 I acutally did that and was a chaplain Asst in the Army serving several Chaplains that were not Catholic. Not only did my faith become stronger but I acutally understand how we Catholics are fortunate to have the truth that many of our Protestant brothers and sisters do not have.

My sister says it is a sin to have visted the other churchs and the the Catechism agrees. Please help answer this question. Thansk

No…if you want to go to see how it’s like then it’s fine, you are just seeing how it’s like, you aren’t following their mass or neither do you have the belief in their version of the eucharist or whatever it is.

It’s not a sin, infact knowing the differences helps you identify what makes your Catholic faith distinct

hey sister.
i have visited many other churches and continue to regularly attend the pentecostal assembly in my city … why, because whereas they dont have the Eucharist they do have other things we are in desperate need of… that is not that we dont have them but there are jewels that are left collecting dust on the bottom at the treasurebox in many Catholic assemblies… to mention some : good fellowship, the ministries mentioned in 1. Cor 12, good music and enthusiasm.
It is not a sin to visit the other churches… actually it shows humility on your side and the more you let people see the sincere love you have for Jesus the more the people you meet in these other assemblies will listen to you about the beauties of the Catholic church.
Within the last half year I have visited orthodox churches, messianic congregations and free churches of different kinds… and I believe the unity comes just like that… that we are not afraid to praise our Beloved Lord together… He longs for that… He thirsts for that.
But be always grounded in the Truth… listen to the teachings of all and take that with you which is good…
God bless you <><

Visiting other churches is fine. Joining in their prayers and singing is fine. Catholics cannot receive communion in Protestant churches just as they cannot receive communion in the Catholic church. Attending a service at a Protestant church doesn’t fulfill your Sunday obligation to attend Mass, so you’ll need to do that as well.

I agree…
I go to sometimes up to three services on one Sunday so I dont miss out on anything… and Sundays are my very best days…love it! love my brothers and sisters… love the different kinds of worshipping and truly feeling the Spirit of God present humbles me and opens my perspective… therefore I feel so blessed but I also have a faith that is tried as gold because it has not always been easy… but as they say: an untested love is no love at all.
