Hi, I live in CT but was wondering if anyone knew of a convent in CT or NYC that would allow teens to visit or volunteer at?
I ask in part because my daughters had a friend in Catholic high school, that through their order, got to visit a sister-group in another state and help them with teaching English for a week. They had a lot of fun but it was organized through their school. I couldn’t afford Catholic high school (although I did 1-8) but wondered if an opportunity like that would exist for a day or a week outside of that environment? They also commented that their friend seemed to talk a lot about being a nun afterwards. Whether that passes or not, I’m sure something touched her.
They would really like to stay over somewhere but I told them not to get their hopes up too much. If anyone has heard of something like that for 16 year olds, please pass it on.Thanks!

I live in Australia, so not much help really - but you could contact religious orders in the areas you specify and ask them directly your questions. Your diocesan website should list religious orders in your diocese. Good luck:thumbsup: and God’s Blessings…Barb:)

I am looking into that…we have some contemplative communities nearby which are great, but a more “working” community like the one their friend stayed at would probably have more need. They were teachers so the children helped them learn to read. I will see it I can get hold of a list this week.
