every Mass in a Catholic parish is a public event - even a wedding or funeral-- and no visitor is ever “in the way”. you may sit wherever you feel comfortable, you may sit, stand or kneel with the congregration, or not, as you feel comfortable, same with singing, following along with the responses and prayers in the missalette or other worship aide. You of course would not receive the Eucharist until the happy day when you are restored to full communion with Christ’s Church, so stand back, here comes the prayers from us.I know Churches will vary, but in general is it possible for visitors to sit-in on a Mass? Is there a certain area where a visitor wouldn’t get in the way and could observe without it being disrespectful, especially during the Eucharist?
I have a few Catholic co-workers I could possibly go with to walk me through one, Eucharist excluded until after RCIA obviously, but they are quite a bit a ways away from me and I’d most likely pick a Parish closer to me anyway.
