Vladimir (958-1015) reigned as Grand Duke of Kiev from 980 to 1015.
The Primary Chronicle reports that in the year 987, after consultation with his boyars, Grand Duke Vladimir sent envoys to study the religions of the various neighboring nations whose representatives had been urging him to embrace their respective faiths.
At Constantinople Vladimir’s emissaries saw the full festival ritual of the Byzantine Church.
Thus Vladimir settled on Eastern Orthodox Christianity.

In 2013, all Orthodox Churches sent their delegations, led by Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and all Africa to celebrate 1025th anniversary of baptism of equal-to Apostle saint Vladimir and his Rus tribe. First they celebrated in Moscow Russia, then in Minks Belarus, and final celebration was held at the Divine Liturgy in Kiev, Ukraine.

Alexandria, Jerusalem, Moscow, Serbian, Bulgarian and Georgian Patriarchs led the grand celebration together with late Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and all Ukraine.

His Beatitude Patriarch Sviatoslav (Shevchuk) of the Ukrainian GrecoCatholic Church also participated in this celebration in an official capacity, although with the UOC-KP and UAOC rather than at Liturgy with the UOC-MP

Sviatoslav is not the Patriarch, he is major-archbishop. Pope denied him the right to be the Patriarch. Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church is painful enough for the Moscow Patriarchate, Vatican does not want to scar Moscow Patriarchate even more, Moscow can stop ecumenism in Eastern Orthodoxy any time they want.
