On the Weather Channel this morning, one of the producers interrupted the forecast by saying, "I just want everyone to know, Stephanie Abrams is a better meteorologist … " The whole set started cracking up.

Bear with me, but I just have to ask the obvious: So why even turn it on, I have to ask ?
Are we that bored with the awesome world God has given us ?

It is our own choice, whether or not we take action when we encounter filth, whatever its form.
As the prayer says- “… avoid the near occasion of sin”. TV in general is LACED with it !

You and I can make a concious decision to take no part in anything containing the poison of the filthy fog we find ourselves living in.
How ?
—Turn off that slimy TV program. (better yet, unplug it and cut the plug off–we did that this summer when they all went digital…talk about FREEDOM ! )
—Walk out of that offensive movie.
—Challenge those who blindly participate in the filth with the Truth.
—Protect your little ones and explain to them in simple terms what is wrong, so they can hear the Truth.
Like the old story of baking the cookies with “just a little doggie doo-doo in them”, kids can understand how a little bit of filth can make an otherwise good show or anything else unfit for them.
Want to change the world ? The best teacher is your own example, let your kids see how you are repulsed by the some of the garbage society calls ‘entertainment’.

What’s the difference? Id say, Of course the porn music is better than MTV…they stopped playing music in the later part of the 90s!! Its all stupid reality shows. Anyways, some of you must be on the wrong channels. Ever hear of Discovery channel, Science channel, History channel (Planet Earth in HD anyone? yes please)…by shutting off that TV you are missing some good shows free of ‘filth’ and has a lot of truth. You can always block channels for the young ones, but leaving the TV completly because you may have found a channel that is no good, seems a bit much. Just my 2 cents

Because he has done stupid stuff like this before. I really think that most of those celebrities at the VMAs (and those racist Twitterers) are in need of a good dose of Jesus.

One can watch T.V. and it can be a virtuous activity, one can say the rosary and it can be accumulation of sin.

And I’m a huge fan of comedy and comedians, but Jack Black is faaaar from being “the man”. His jokes really aren’t anything. He just does stupid stuff. He’s like the Will Ferrel of Dungeons and Dragons.

Most gamers disavow his antics as humor. He’s good on film, but not elsewhere.

Well, I suppose… but that would be taking both activities to their extremes of contradiction !
Regarding your 1st point-
There is surely some virtue left in the media, if you can dodge your way thru the hailstorm of mindless gunk. Much of my disgust with popular TV media is the risk you have to take to watch anything, even a good show–you never know what distasteful gunk is going to pop into your living room in the next second, be it a commercial, preview, or whatever.
As a parent and grandparent, I’d rather cut the plug off than subject my family to that risk.

Regarding your 2nd point-
Now, to accumulate sin while praying the rosary ? One would have to have some VERY INTENTIONAL blasphemous intentions for that to happen. Like when people desecrate the Eucharist. I have a hard time seeing how one could accumulate sin while talking to God, all the while asking for the help of Our Lady !

BTW, I surely didn’t invent the term ‘boobtube’, has it fallen out of use these days ?
Guess we can’t call something which is so central to so many lives these days by such a derrogatory name any more. IMHO, the shoe fits, perfectly.

Yeah, little by little. It’s amazing what we can begin to accept, when it is fed to us in small doses. That is how rat poison works too. The satan worship really bothered me (watched in online, no way do I waste my time on that stuff!). People are so desperate to be funny and fit in that they all, giggling, grabbed hands and followed along. Like somebody else said, I would have booed so loudly that they’d drag me out.

Kanye West is a boob. He shouldn’t be on a late night TV commercial much less regular TV and the radio.

While I think Jack Black is a talentless blob who is sometimes moderately funny if reading the right lines, he “prayer to Satan” trivializes the reality of the Enemy and causes people to take Satan less seriously and downplay the existence of evil.

Hang in there on your journey Bryan. Pray to the Holy Spirit , changer of hearts. You will make it.
And don’t be afraid to ask Our Lady for help too, you might be surprised !
