Vocation advice needed

As a suggestion, perhaps you could consider working or travelling for a year or so instead of going to college. This would at least give you time to consider your vocation outside of the confines of a school environment as well as probably pleasing your mother (granted probably not as much as going to college but still…). In fairness, I can understand where both you and your mother are coming from. It’s easy to be young and enthusiastic about a vocational call but a harder thing to actually live that call - especially through the difficulties and struggles which is when having some life experience to draw on for strength and support can be invaluable. At the same time, most parents want their children to be secure in life and see gaining a college education as being a necessary part of this. That said, there’s no point in going to college just for the sake of it - you really have to want to be there to make it work effectively.
