I watched an interview of a nun on EWTN’s The Journey Home (about 45min into this audio file) who had been married non-sacramentally, but both she and her husband separated to become a nun and a priest.

She didn’t go into details, but I found it quite surprising. She had said something along the lines of since both parties were pursuing a vocation of service to the Church and had remained celibate for a few years, the local priest didn’t insist on them getting their marriage validated and blessed their discernment.

Has anyone heard anything similar or was this a very irregular case?

:blessyou:

There was a couple in Soviet Union, who wanted to become a nun and a priest. They were allowed to discern that. But later the wife decided not to join the nuns. The husband was ordained as Eastern Catholic priest then, and they continued to live under one roof, in celibate.

In Defense of The City of God Mystica Civitate Dei: dailycatholic.org/issue/05Jun/jun10tim.htm - to summarize the research of three priests on the official decision of the Holy Roman Catholic Church regarding The Mystical City of God by Venerable Mary of Jesus of Agreda and to ascertain thereby whether it is permitted for anyone of any authority whatsoever to forbid the reading of this extraordinary book.

Something very similar happened with the parents of Venerable Mary of Jesus of Agreda. Her mother and father had a few daugherts and sons, then her mother and father separated and all the children and the parents (I think :o:confused:🤷) went to live in convents or monasteries (or they changed their home into a religious house - or the mother and father changed home into a religious house and the children lived in monasteries) something like that. St. Therese of Liseux’s parents both wanted to be nuns and priests and were rejected but all of their children became nuns. When I see something like this, it tells me that Christ, Mary, and Joseph are working in a very special way. ❤️ :o
