Vocation Prayer

Just over the last few months a ‘new’ prayer has been incorporated at Mass at my parish. In every hymn book there is this Vocation Prayer that has been inserted next to the cover so we can all read at the appropriate time. Has anybody else had this prayer added to Mass recently as well? If so, is there a reason why its just been added. I like the prayer, but was wondering why all of sudden we are opening out hymn books to read it every Sunday.

Oh God, we earnestly beseech Thee, to bless this diocese with many Priests, Deacons, brothers and Sisters who will love Thee with their whole strength and gladly spend their entire lives to serve Thy church and to make Thee known and loved
Bless our families, bless our children, choose from our homes those who are needed for Thy work.
Mary, Mother of vocations, pray for us. That our families may hear the calling of your Son Jesus.

That prayer? We’ve been saying that prayer in church for many years. Our vocations are up significantly in our diocese. Praise God.

No not that prayer - this one is a fair bit longer, can’t remember exactly how it goes.

We have a Vocations prayer added in our daily Mass book. However, after Sunday Mass is over everyone kneels and says, an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for Vocations. Father standing in the vestibule can always tell who the visitors are by those who leave immediately after Mass. 🙂
