David,

I saw minimum age on the web site and an explanation of the process. What is the maximum age?

Rev North
The maximum age is listed, or used to be listed, as 40 but then added that they will enter into discussion with those older.

Just completed our 5 day canonical directed retreat for entry into the Novitiate.

We will receive the habit and enter the Novitiate at Evening Prayer on Sunday June 10th.

I am so happy for you. It is so wonderful to have a vocation such as that. We will pray for you. Please remember your CAF friends in your prayers. You have a more direct line to God.

Good luck and be blessed Br. Dave!

Things are going very well. We are past the 1 month mark of the Novitiate. I start my Spiritual Direction next week and we are attending a conference on The Prophetic Dimension of our Carmelite Rule in Rhode Island sponsored by the Carmelite Institute next week.

I have also updated my profile picture with me in my habit.

Love your habit Bro! Always praying for you. I have always loved St John of the Cross…been with him for over 2o years! (guess I am showing my age, eh?) Right now just bought the book ‘The Science of the Cross’ by St Edith Stein.

Please pray for your confreres here. I am dealing with them bringing New Age into our Monastery. Might have to go to the nuncio if things don’t change. :crying:

Cool Brother:thumbsup:

Thank you for taking us on the journey with you.

Not that monastery in Niagra Falls? 😦

Not to be picky but its not a monastery. Carmelites have priories.

And please take your issues to a different thread rather then discuss them here.

For those who are interested I thought I would supply another update, it has been awhile since I have done so.

Tomorrow, Monday 1/28 we are off to Chicago to visit the Carmelites in the area. To expose us to some of the ministries and priories of the PCM Province, the one I belong to. We do joint formation after the pre-novitiate and the novitiate is located in the SEL Province though we have visited a couple of priories and a retreat house in NJ that are part of the PCM Province. We will be there for a week. I will still be in touch a bit during the trip but…

When Lent starts we will enter a Desert Experience, this will start on Ash Wednesday and end at the Easter Vigil. So I will be away from the forum totally. I haven’t been around much as of late but I have been weening myself off of the forum so that it is not such a shock to my system when it starts. I will be allowed to check email once a week, mainly so spam doesn’t kill me. So if anyone is interested in speaking to me or if anyone has any prayer requests feel free to send me an email through the forum. Do not send me a private message as I won’t be able to get it but an email will come though.

God Bless everyone!

ByzCath,

Good to hear from you.

May God continue to bless you in your vocation!

I will say a prayer for you.

Br. David,

Keep posting. I really do enjoy reading about your journey and wish you God’s blessing.

It’s a very good new, indeed! Keep us posted!

God Bless You! :heaven:

Hi there! How have you been my friend? There a big write-up on the carmelite’s 800 yr ofd Rule in the paper. There was a BIG celebration at Mount Carmel this week-end for the event. Couldn’t go though…working!:crying: Keeping you in prayer…👍

Here is another update.

I was trying to wait for some “Official” word on it but sometimes the communications within my province lack a bit in what I think they should be so maybe the “Official” word is not coming as I want to see it.

In March we had our 9-month evaluations. According to our Constitutions and Formation Manual this can be the last evaluation of the Novitiate. My Novice Director recommended me for simple vows. My provincial seemed to take this and a couple of weeks later I went to the theologate house for a final profession and the formation director there talked with me about my moving there and told me to start enrolling in my summer philosophy course and to apply for the theologate (WTU).

The invitations have gone out with my name among those who are to be professed so maybe that is as “Official” as it gets for me. The guys from the other province got a more “Official” word than that though. Maybe this is just the differences in the provinces and the fact that I do not have a novice director from my province.

So it appears that everything is a go for my profession of simple vows on Monday June 9.

I want to ask everyone for their prayers for this day, it will take place at a Mass at the Shrine of Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 11:00am. Also please remember our new novices who will be invested in the habit at Evening Prayer on Sunday June 8 at 7:00pm.

Greetings ByzCath! Good to see you. I don’t know just what you are accomplishing but my prayers are with you!!

And, can you tell me something?? What in the world does one have to do to start a new order of nuns? I can’t even conceive of doing this without at least a letter from my bishop saying OK ! Any advice??

Kathie
