I am looking for a statistic or source to quote.

Somewhere I read that vocations are strong among the Catholic Homeschoolers. Is there a statistic? Are homeschoolers a significant percentage of those entering into religious life?

Would appreciate any info you may have.
Thanks!

Hmm…I’ll see if I can find any for you. I’m a former Catholic homeschooler (now in college) and, surprise, surprise, I’m considering a vocation. I only know of one homeschooler in my group that became a nun, so perhaps the rate’s about the same with those who went to Catholic school.

This isn’t much to go on (its a small sample, and a cherry-picked example), but a delegation of homeschool executives who visited the Vatican a few months ago cited a “Midwest bishop who says that over a five-year period, 23 percent of young men graduating from one home school cooperative in his diocese entered the seminary.” catholic.org/prwire/headline.php?ID=2884

I am currently in a seminary, and I was homeschooled. There are two other guys at this seminary who I know were homeschooled, and there are probably a couple others as well. I have a good friend who was homeschooled who is considering the Benedictines, too.
