Dear Katherine2,
I do not have as much a dispute with Fr. Doyle as he has with the Church. It’s more of a strong, collective distaste for dissent that masquerades as faithfulness. If, indeed, people are known by the company they keep, VOTF is inviting criticism by keeping company with kvetchers, whiners, and deconstructivists.
From God’s perspective, spreading dissent and discord is a detestable thing, actually something the Lord hates, even to the point of calling “a man who stirs up dissension among brothers” an abomination. (Proverbs 6:16,19 -NIV)
