Is one morally obliged to do some form of volunteer charity work activity? Eg work at a soup kitchen etc.

You could also…
  • rake leaves for disabled people, people who don’t have the tools to, or for people who can’t (for free)😛
  • take care of a friend’s/family member’s/neighbor’s children, free of charge
  • Hand a hobo a new coat 🤷
  • Shovel the driveways/sidewalks of disabled people… (for free)
  • Start a free class to teach immigrants how to speak English
  • Start a free class to teach adults how to use the internet
  • Volunteer to clean up the parish after the last mass of the day.
The list goes on forever…

Yes. But it doesn’t have to be as organized as devoting a special day at a soup kitchen. In general, you should try to help others as much as you can. You can give someone a ride to Mass or to some other event. You can help someone who is moving. You can cut your neighbor’s kids hair for free. You can help your nephew with his homework. You can let someone borrow your tools. There are all sorts of ways that acts of charity can be incorporated into our daily lives.
