I was just wondering what any of you think would be a good place to volunteer for? I really love helping people, and have volunteered at lots of places. But, I am looking for a place that would really make a difference. Any ideas? Thanks!

I prepare tax returns for low income seniors as a volunteer. Personally, I find it to be rewarding, and they seem to genuinely appreciate it. 👍

I volunteer at a nursing/rehabilitation center. I visit and pray with the sick and elderly. I also bring the Holy Eucharist to the Catholics. It is very hard to see them suffering so much but they are the ones who are helping me to be a better human being. I am so blessed to know them!

how old are you? where do you live? what are your skills and talents you have to offer? can you drive? what needs have you seen in your previous work that seem to be unmet in your area? For instance one of our students volunteered in a hospital for her Confirmation service and realized there was a need to instruct patients going home, and their caregivers, in Spanish about medications, home care etc. so she asked for that job and now there are regular volunteers trained who do that for every non-English speaker (she has gone on to the Peace Corps in a public health project in Africa).

As for making a difference, don’t worry about making a global difference, think about making a difference for one person at a time.

That is so kind of you. My uncle and wife do that, and I always thought that was a nice idea, just did not know how to go about doing it. I might give that a thought, thanks! God Bless you

I am turning 25, I live in Michigan. I actually love listening to people and giving advice, so I’m kind of trying to find something where I can counsel people… mostly teens or young girls. I just don’t know where to find a place that will actually let me counsel. I have a bachelors , but in interdisciplinary studies, but i am thinking of doing a masters in school counseling or becoming a CNA.

A Crisis Pregnancy Center or just call your Parish and ask where you are needed!

I found a crisis pregnancy center place that i have been helping out there for a little, and they allow us to counsel young girls and woman who are considering having an abortion, and for us to help them change their mind. But, i have been so nervous about counseling them, that i have put it off. I guess i will give it chance though, since that is the only place that will allow me to counsel without a counseling degree.
