Spiritually, yes this is true. Physically, not entirely. Although the material influence of evil is certainly likely to be weakened/broken by a proper prayer/sacramental life. Evil can certainly harass us, although this hold can be weakened by growing in holiness.

evil can do nothing to us if we keep the door shut, stay close to God and the Sacraments,

As Pope Francis said and Jesus demonstrated Dont dialogue with the devil. the devil has no power when the door is slammed firmly shut in its face

Definitely not talk ever again with that Paul! Talk with a priest, pray more often, have your house blessed and thank God for your troubles who got you away from Paul and saw who he really is.
I read most witchcraft is psychology. Like for example there is no proof that the good things in your life were brought by Paul. None!
Dedicate those blessings to God and forget any idea that Paul somehow helped you. How could he? How could he know if you would fall in love with your husband or not? That part about him helping you with your life is all in your head. Human beings can’t control life of others. Only God can!

She’s not under a curse, Socrates92. She had a falling out with a former friend who has weird (to her) items in his house and now is blaming every negative thing that happens on being cursed.

There is no curse. She needs to say her prayers and ask God to send His good angels to come to her aid. And she needs to not have anything to do with this Paul person, throwing out anything she haa that he gave her.

One person I know who believes very strongly in voodoo and curses and believes he is under a curse to this day told me years ago that nothing bad can happen if you don’t believe it. I don’t know the number of times people who were angry with me claimed to have put me under a curse or that every bad thing that happens to me is because I’m cursed. I just laugh at their claims and continue on with my life.

As I said earlier, bad things happen to good people. When they do, turn to God and give Him those burdens. Saint Padre Pio said, “Pray, hope and don’t worry.” That is wise advice every Christian whether Catholic or not should follow.

If the OP is Catholic, praying the Rosary each day will also benefit her. Saint Padre Pio also said, “The Rosary is the weapon for these times.” The OP can read about him and see his many struggles with Satan. He never let Satan’s shenanigans defeat him.

The OP can also say, when feeling Satan is trying to get to her, “In the Holy Name of Jesus, I order you to depart from me. I belong to Jesus.”

@MissAyida
A) Do you really believe that the good things that happened to you were the result of spells/magic/incantations/voodoo done by Paul?

B) Do you really believe that the bad things that happened to you were caused by Paul?

Voodoo isn’t real. Neither the good nor the bad are the consequence of magical incantations.

Talk to a priest for reassurance, because you can’t go through life believing in such nonsense.

I’m not inclined to say Paul is the cause of it all. I will second talking to a priest though to get his opinion. But I’d also suggest trying to find natural causes. For example could your nightmares be from a change in diet? Have you been thinking about evil spirits a lot? Did the doctor give any possible causes for your children’s screaming? I know a cousin of mine used to sometimes just scream like your children did despite no obvious cause when she was young. With the good thing prior, were you changing who you were as a person, which would lead to changes in your life? Looking at natural causes should also help when you do talk to the priest as I’m sure that’s one of the first steps he’ll take.

Depends what you mean by belief. If you simply mean acknowledgement of its existence, then no. (The devil’s greatest trick is to convince people he doesn’t exist) If you personally entertain some attachment or fascination with the subject, then perhaps, as you may be playing with fire, so perhaps.

Hello everybody.I talked with a priest today and he told me that Voodoo is Satan’s spiteful trick on us humans and is used by devil worshippers and witches to destroy our lives. He blessed my house with holy water as for now.Hopefully it will help.Thank you.I wasn’t praying daily but going to church before it happend.

Yes and no…

NO… Father José Antonio Fortea, who wrote a book called Interview with an Exorcist, I believe that he said it perfectly: nothing can happen through any person’s magical powers. Not of their magical power. That kind of thing does not exist. So what power is it that can have a negative effect on you if someone did try to, through magic or sorcery give you negative effects in what we usually call a curse, a spell or a hex?

YES…So is there a need for caution here and cleansing? Absolutely. People who practice such things are opened to the Devil’s influence and even possession. Once you are under the protection of the savior, God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit do you need fear a demon under every rock? No you need not. Jesus even says, ‘He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.’"

This was surprising to me. “Father Gabriele Amorth has said many times in interviews, ‘What is the number one cause of demonic possession?’ You think he’s going to say something like going to a medium, playing with a ouija board? Well those all can be very dangerous indeed. But surprisingly he says, curses. People in acting a curse against you, or people involving themself in trying to get someone a curse or a hex. In our Western culture this sounds some times so ridiculous … We need to understand that there are some parts in the world where this is considered okay and where it is a part of their spirituality and their upbringing and their teaching …”

This is not from me but from Catholic Warriors.com A prayer to break curses.

“In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, by the power of his cross, his blood and his resurrection, I take authority over all curses, hexes, spells, voodoo practices, witchcraft assignments, satanic rituals, incantations and evil wishes that have been sent my way, or have passed down the generational bloodline. I break their influence over my life by the power of the risen Lord Jesus Christ, and I command these curses to go back to where they came from and be replaced with a blessing. I ask forgiveness for and denounce all negative inner vows and agreements that I have made with the enemy, and I ask that you Lord Jesus Christ release me from any bondage they may have held in me. I claim your shed blood over all aspects of my life, relationships, ministry endeavors and finances. I thank you for your enduring love, your angelic protection, and for the fullness of your abundant blessings.” In Jesus Name I pray.

Talk to your Priest as others have mentioned. I will pray for you too.

Hugs,
R

Thanks for the follow up !
And good for you to not dilly dally around -
Glad - the Priest helped out - immediately !

Yes I did burn them and throw them into the trash.I had a mask on, but the smell was still very intense.I felt dizzy (like I felt very sleepy for some time), so I quickly ran away.Don’t know what was in those herbs but that didn’t feel normal.Maybe I’m panicking but I’m glad it’s gone.I also found a little figure that he gave me years ago and I’m afraid it would be demonic too.It is a black skinned lady dressed in gold and yellow and she has a crown on with a mirror in her hand.Should I get rid of it too? The figure also has some weird looking shells at the feet and on figure’s necklace.

Use holy water on yourself every night. Pray the Catholic deliverance prayers every night till this stops. Yes, see a priest. Pray the St. Michael Novena.

Sounds like you’ve been given a voodoo troll. You should bury that in your back yard upside down to render it harmless.

I second @Cruciferi. My great grandma was a witch. She told us in the family that in order to overcome curses one has to not think of them (ignore them) and show feeling-less contempt to the object involved. The demons catch on to any negative emotion - from fear to anger or fury.
So I would say destroy that statue and if it’s too hard to smash it throw it in the garbage like there is nothing there for, beneath you and unworthy of your attention. Do not bury that thing anywhere especially not near your house.
Garbage is a dirty place (like sewer). Earth is sometimes a clean place. Why stain your yard with something that fowl?
That is why you cannot throw away old icons or blessed items, but you can sometimes bury them in a clean place.
Prayers for you and your family!
So glad the priest came to help so quickly!
