Please link to these statistics, because taht sounds like a blatant falsehood from where I’m sitting.
Resisting the temptation to be offended at being called a liar, I will simply post the link to the stats and remove myself from a thread that degrades to such tactics…

I’m fairly certain you will accept that this site is not in anyway pro-abortion or left leaning.

God bless

It’s amazing how the media posts that headline when that’s not even close to what he actually said.

It doesn’t say that he said democrats are evil. It doesn’t say that anybody’s going to Hell. He said that voting for the party that supports intrinsic evils may put your soul at risk for Hell. This is hardly rocket science, folks. He’s not saying anything different from what we know already.

What happens to you if you vote for a 3rd candidate?
Purgatory?

Seriously, the best thing to do is ignore anyone who goes beyond or against what the Catholic Church teaches. The Church does not name names. So ignore anyone who does and calls it sin.

Rather, the Catholic Church says that voting for anyone who supports abortion** for the purpose of supporting abortion**, is commiting an immoral act. Even if one votes for a pro-abortion candidate for some other reason, then the reason must be proportionate.

That’s it. Read the voter’s guide. Work on your conscience. Ignore those who name names.

There may be other opinion, but mine is backed by the USCCB in their voter’s guide. You can’t say that about most ot the partisan pushers here.

It’s interesting. Back in 2002 Romney said he would preserve and protect a womans right to choose. He also instituted Romney care in Massachusetts which many people claim obama care modeled itself on. And he has supported in the past and seems to still support “Gay rights.”

All this info can be found at ontheissues.org

The Constitution party seems to be a viable political alternative these are their seven principles:

Seven Principles Of The Constitution Party:
Code:
Life: For all human beings, from conception to natural death;
Liberty: Freedom of conscience and actions for the self-governed  individual;
Family: One husband and one wife with their children as divinely instituted;
Property: Each individual's right to own and steward personal property without government burden;
Constitution And Bill Of Rights: interpreted according to the actual intent of the founding fathers;
State's Rights: Everything not specifically delegated by the Constitution to the federal government, nor prohibited by the Constitution to the states, is reserved to the states or to the people.
American Sovereignty: American government committed to the protection of the borders, trade, and common defense of Americans, and not entangled in foreign alliances.
Virgil Goode is the presidential candidate for this party.

As an aside I am not an Obama supporter just in case anyone tries to infer it.

I at no point called you a liar. I was stating that that statement seemed incorrect. Perhaps falsehood was not the best choice in wording, but it was not meant to be a personal attack, just an observations that I found that statement laughable.

As to those statistics, they show no correlation between pro-life / pro-choice, but rather a correlation based on the economy. The steepest inclines shown in those numbers relate to an economic recession that occurred in the eighties.

As for our current “Decline,” those numbers leave out California, New Hampshire and one other state, all of which were included in the previous tallies. This means they cannot be an accurate reflection of the numbers because California has the most abortions of any state, second only to New York (Map of Abortions per 1000 live born individuals - by state - select the maps option under graphic). Unfortunately, there are no current statistics (that I can find) which map out the last four years since the Obama’s election and since the current recession hit in full force, so honestly, we can’t really tell yet what sort of an affect his actions have had on the numbers.

Needless to say though, even if they have decreased in number during his stint in office this is not a direct result of his actions, which have only been to promote and expand their availability. And even if this had been what brought about the decline, that would be trying to claim that “the ends justify the means.” You cannot correct an evil action (abortion) through another evil action (promoting abortion).

However, there are 5 non-negotiables for Catholic voters. We cannot vote for a candidate who supports these issues (Abortion is always at the top but the rest are not in order).
  1. Abortion
  2. Euthanasia
  3. Fetal stem-cell research
  4. Homosexual marriage
  5. Human cloning
Many voters ignore this and vote based on emotions, the party their parents belong to, cultural expectations, or other factors not connected with being a faithful Catholic.
You are correct and this is very well presented!

Amen. 👍

Catechism 101

A) If you commit a serious sin you put your soul in danger.
B) If you cooperate with someone committing a serious sin, you may be sinning yourself.
C) If you die without repenting and being absolved of this serious sin, you will not be dying in a state of grace.

Nothing earthshattering or new. Just regular old Catholic teaching.
