If a person who is Catholic has their assigned polling place at a Masonic Lodge, can they still be automatically excommunicated for going there just to vote? I have read about that Catholics are not allowed to join the Freemasons and I was wondering if that forbids any member of the Catholic Church for entering any Masonic Lodge for any purpose.

If that’s where the government told you to vote, that’s where you have to vote. You’re going there to fulfill a civic duty, not join them, so there’s nothing wrong with it.

There is no problem with going to a Masonic lodge to vote. You are not cooperating with nor blessing the Masons in any way. We go to events at the Shriners temple (strictly speaking, the Shriners organization is not Masonic, though all Shriners are Masons) all the time.

You might want to take along some blessed Miraculous Medals or St Benedict Medals to hide inconspicuously, reciting the Hail Mary or the St Michael prayer while you’re at it. I used to walk through the plaza of the professional center near my home, which contained an abortion clinic, on purpose, on my way to the store — I could have taken another route — with Miraculous Medals in my pocket which I would surreptitiously chuck into the shrubbery. That clinic eventually closed.

No you aren’t there to join the evil lodge, just to vote. That being said can’t you go to the county clerks office to vote? If I were you I would just do that than go anywhere near that evil place.

If you can’t avoid going there pray to St Michael the Archengel and ask Christ to protect you with His Blood and you should be fine

Going to a polling place to vote and “joining the Masons” are two different things. I am not even following how you even came up with this question.

I just don’t see how this is even a serious question. Do you really not understand the difference between those two things?

The offenses that incur automatic excommunication are listed in canon law. Joining the Masons is not one of them.

This is the pertinent document regarding Masonic affiliation:

No.

There is no prohibition on voting in a Masonic Lodge. The prohibition is in joining the group. Just don’t become a Freemason while voting and you will be fine.
