Please, can anyone help me? I am having a difficult time finding a solid response. Can anyone tell me if it is a sin to vote for a pro-abortion candidate? If it is a sin can you please tell me if it is of grave matter? Can you please support your answer with a link to an official statement?

I am a catechhist in a Catholic school and I need to know what to tell me co-workers and my students. Thank you and God bless you!

Bishop Robert Finn (about Catholics voting for Obama): “I would say, give consideration to your eternal salvation…To vote for a person who has a fanatical determination to not only support abortion as it is now but to remove all limitations on it through the Freedom of Choice Act and to extend it without any recourse – throwing out all of the efforts of citizens over the last 35 years to place reasonable limits on abortion…By voting for a person who has expressed his determination to do this to Planned Parenthood and NARAL – you make yourself a participant in the act of abortion and you mustn’t do it because your eternal salvation is tied up with that important choice.”

Bishop Gracida on a radio ad: “This is Bishop Rene H. Gracida, reminding all Catholics that they must vote in this election with an informed conscience. A Catholic cannot be said to have voted in this election with a good conscience if they have voted for a pro-abortion candidate. Barack Hussein Obama is a pro-abortion candidate.”

The Bishops have made it very clear on who a Catholic can not vote for. It is not alright to vote for a candidate who supports the morally grave and intrinsically evil act of abortion - to do so is to cooperate with evil.

Granted I don’t have all of the official statements but this is what I can tell you. Obama supports abortion, homosexual marriage, and sex education to children in kindergarten. McCain does not. However, with Obama most of us will get more back in our tax return check. Does this not seem as if we are being asked to sell our soles to Satan? Remember that Satan uses human beings the same as God does. Those human beings don’t have forked tongues and tails and a contract - but a voting ballot and a silver tongue. The same silver tongue that convinced Eve to offer Adam the apple. :hypno: :frighten: :getholy: :gopray2:

God bless,

Dear Franklinf,

Thank you so much for your help. Can you give me a brush up on Church authority? I don’t think my bishop has made a declaration on voting. Can I use the statements of other bishops to justify what I teach in my diocese as a catechist?

A little late to be asking this question, isn’t it? Thirty plus percent of us have alrready voted. With things being the way they are out there, I am very curious as to how long either candidate will take to get around to abortion issues in any meaningful way. Political promises are often broken or am I being a pessimist?

  1. It is NEVER too late to educate people. We still have the election of 2012 to think about.
  2. Pro-life supreme court judges that are appointed by a president can REVERSE Roe vs. Wade.
