We have those horrid electric ones - and not many are used either.

Give me proper candles please - beeswax ones and either in a proper stand or a sand box

Now surely sand boxes would satisfy fire regulations .

Probably not if push came to shove with the Fire Marshall.

But they would be great fun if you had a shovel and bucket. 😉

Call me crazy or just a wonderful idea has been rattling around in my head.

Incense scented candles!
(I already mentioned this in the ‘Incense’ thread.

I just wonder why a candle manufacturer what supplies candles to churches hasn’t come up with this? I’d buy stock in it! I want a piece of the action!

It might be a little overpowering to have that much constant scent - especially for asthmatics and others with allergy problems.

The scent would not have to overpowering, just a trace to softly flavor the air.

We have two small sets of votive candles in our parish. They are recently installed (new parish in temporary space). I would probably use them, but I don’t know how or what the reason is. Like, when do you light them? Before Mass? Any day of the week?

And what does it mean? That you are praying for something?

Thanks.

Yes, lighting a candle is for asking God for special prayers or intentions to be asked.
The candle represents the light of hope in your prayer/intention to be sent and asked for.

hope this helps
