When you light a prayer candle at home, how long do you let it burn?

One of our parishioners left a prayer candle burning at her home while she left the house to attend Mass. Her cat knocked over the candle and their house burned beyond repair. So I would say never leave the candle burning unattended. I don’t often light candles at home. I have occassionaly lit a candle while saying my prayers. Sometimes I left a candle burning for about an hour.

As mentioned by another poster I don’t want to burn down my home, so I extinguish mine when I’m finished with my prayers.
2 cats + 2 kids + unattended candles = disaster

We used to light votive candles everyday and turn of at night. One day however the wick got to close to the glass and cracked it. I discovered it before anything worse happened. My moms friend used to leave them on 24/7 but she doesn’t do it no more because her 5 year old used to play with them.
