Invite them to celebrate with you as you are joined in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. I’m sure you’re not inviting strangers so your friends and family should understand what you mean.

Just tell them you are having a Catholic Wedding and you want them to share it with you,

How about something like…
Join us as we are united in faith together in the holy sacrament of the church…

My husband and I were originally married in the Presbyterian Church and had our marriage convalidated when we joined/rejoined the Catholic Church five years later. I am sure there are those out there that would disagree or have problems with this statement, but…we tended to view our original marriage as a sacramental vow made and blessed before God (as did the priest who brought us back into the church), but it was not considered technically valid by Catholic rules.

I don’t consider the date we made renewal of vows as when we first became married, but as an extension and blessing to our marriage and another outpouring of grace and blessing on our marriage by God. We didn’t send out formal invitations for the ceremony but kept it small and low key with just very close family and friends. If we had sent out invitations I would probably have said something like “blessing of our marriage vows” or something to that effect.

thanks yes it will be simple im not even making a reception or anything just the mass but we do have alot of family so i decided to make the invitations myself …
Thanks a bunch

While I wish to respect your feelings, ‘blessing of your marriage vows’ is not what happened at your convalidation.

Again respecting your feelings I have to agree with Phemie here.

Sorry if i’m poaching a thread but I would like some advice

Myself and my husband married 9yrs ago we were married in a church both as catholics during our 9yrs of marriage my husband has become a reformed alcoholic and i battled and won against mental illness

We want to celebrate our 10th anniversary with a vow renewal as it will symbolise our love and commitment to each other and gods help in getting us to the loving happy family we are today

We live in Ireland and we are wondering if it is a done thing within the catholic church in Ireland

Thankyou for any help and advice

Gail

Congratulations to both of you. I think you will need to ask your priest about this. Just call the nearest parish, and then a few beyond, to see if it is normal practice.

As the previous poster said, contact your parish priest. In Canada the Marriage Rite book includes a Renewal of Vows section. The vows are the same as the original ones (in the US they are slightly different) but the introduction makes it clear that you are already married.

Oh, congratulations!
