I publish and market texts that have the Latin Vulgate and Glossa Ordinaria. I see the uses of words for Vulgate and Ordinaria as common and ordinary. Looking at it with marketing eyes I find a bit of an unintentional misleading perception that can be developed. Both the words common and ordinary give the impression of being mediocre, whereas the true meaning for both in reference to the Latin Vulgate and Glossa Ordinaria would better be represented more accurately as ‘popular’, because there is nothing ordinary and mediocre about either because both were the standard authoritative texts of their kind.
