Waiting and waiting to go to Confession

Seriously, a priest told me to never pray for patience, because God gives us what we ask for. (putting you in situations where you need to be patient.) He then went on to say to pray this way: "Jesus, be my patience.

By asking the Lord to be your patience, you are asking Him, in your soul, to take over and be your patience.

Then he went on to tell us other things we can ask for such as:

Jesus be my poise
Jesus be my emotional control
Jesus be my compassion
Jesus be my sense of humor
etc.

This kind of praying fosters a reliance on His strength, not ours. We can do nothing without Him.
Thank you for this post. I am happy to receive (3rd party) this advice! 🙂

Hi there,

I’d recommend you take your own advice and schedule a confession time with a priest.

Expecting others to conform their behaviour to your needs isn’t going to happen, so ambrace that and make choices accordingly.

God bless you.

A couple of times at Confession ,there is a certain lady who takes a real long time inside, and ive happened to be next waiting,it gets frustrating but luckily the Priests of the Blessed Sacrament congregation there confess for very long hours everyday.

When she finally comes out ,she holds the door for me but i dont grab the door because i dont feel like saying thank you to her because i feel annoyed at her,so i just let her close the door before i go in.

Il try next time to be more nice

Once when I was very young my brothers and I went to confession with my uncle, who drove us. In those days no one took much time in the confessional; it was pretty quick. On that particular day, maybe I was trying to impress him by being more devout, taking extra time to pray beforehand (there really wasn’t much way to lengthen the confession itself), and taking extra time to say my penance afterwards. As we were walking to the car afterwards, he said “MAN, I sure hate to go to confession with a bunch of SINNERS!”

Oh my! I am sure we go because we are sinners. Maybe he had other things to do that day that made him say what he did !
