Waiting until the scheduled time for confession

I know I have asked this before, but if I commit a mortal sin, and I consider it highly unlikely I can receive the Sacrament of Penance until the scheduled time. If I say a perfect Act of Contrition, wait until the scheduled time to go to confession, will that Act of Contrition suffice?
 
I don’t think so. I think you must have the priest absolve you.
 
Being aware of mortal sin, this is no time to take a shortcut. If your goal is to know God, to love Him and to serve Him eternally in His Kingdom, wouldn’t you be disposed to expend any and all effort to safely arrive there?

Even if you made an act of perfect contrition, and frankly I don’t know how anyone can be certain of that, you are not permitted to receive Communion until you have been absolved in Confession.
The act of perfect contrition with the firm intent to get to Confession as soon as possible benefits you if you die before getting to Confession. Assuming you did not commit any mortal sins after making an act of perfect contrition and died before getting to Confession your sins would be forgiven and you would be saved.
 
There is different types of sufficing. Yes, you have responded to God’s call to turn to Him and that is good! 🙂 But you still need to go to confession afterwards, because implicit in an act of perfect contrition is your plan to go to confession promptly.

But what about does it return you to a state of grace all by itself. That may or may not have happened depending on how grace filled and full of charity your act of contrition was.

You really do need to talk about your scrupulosity with your priest/Confessor.
 
You are forgiven the moment you are genuinely sorry and make a perfect act of contrition and God understands if confession is not possible until a time later. What we can’t do is receive communion until absolved and we cant be presumtuious that we really made a act of perfect contrition. So we must get to confession asap! I remember once I was in mortal sin and tried to go to confession at different parishes but all the priests in our diocese were on retreat that week so I had to wait until Saturday. It was the best I could do. You will be fine, God loves you. Just make sure you get to confession as soon as you can. If you get hit by a car on the way to confession, remember that God knows your intentions.

If you are scrupulous you need to seek a spiritual director. God bless

You seem to have a few questions posted about sin and confession. May I suggest you take time to talk to a priest or find a spiritual director. May God bless you.
 
I thought you could ask a priest anytime and anywhere for a confession
 
You may ask, but a priest may be busy and not have the time to offer the sacrament right at that time.
 
In all charity, if you’ve asked this before and it’s been answered, what good will asking it again do? Please talk to your pastor about scrupulosity. No one here is qualified to provide the help you truly need.
 
It may help but at best if you were to die before confession you might end up in purgatory for the rest of time.
 
In the first one, I simply asked whether I should whether wait until the scheduled time to ask for confession, or see if I could try and get a priest to hear my confession sooner? In this question, I ask to see if an Act of Contrition would be sufficient if it seems unlikely that I could get a priest to hear my confession before the regularly scheduled confession time?
 
It is perfectly fine to wait until the scheduled time for Confession.

Note to everyone else, the OP seems to be asking if they can go to Confession at the next scheduled time rather than immediately, not if they can receive Communion before confessing.

OP, if you regularly suffer from anxiety about sin and forgiveness, please ask a priest or counselor for help. Most of us aren’t qualified to help you, and might inadvertently make you feel worse.
