Walkin' Away with the Eucharist . . .

I just read the article, and it just makes my heart hurt for our Lord. 😦 It makes the host getting stuck in the missle, or placed under the carpets look tame by comparison. I think I’m going to offer some prayers of repairation for Him today.
Oh, you are so right.

I can’t imagine how much Our Lady weeps and comforts Her Son. This should be an automatic intention when offering the Rosary.

I do think that most people who walk away with the Eucharist do so for their own simple reasons, ignorance or whatnot, and most have no direct intention of profanation.

Kind of ironic, though, that Satanists believe in the Real Presence and so many Catholics don’t.

And that’s all I have to say about the Evil One.

Of course they believe in the Real Presence. As a rule true Luciferians believe in the whole Catholic theology, except they feel they have a better shot with Lucifer than with God. After all, to deny the existence of God and His teachings would in fact deny the existence of their lord Lucifer. Beyond that they know how powerful the Eucharist and the Holy sacrifice of the Mass is. That is why they mock it and blaspheme it at every opportunity they get. Some argue that Lucifer thinks he will eventually win and that scripture is in error. Pride, was his greatest failing and sin.

Spiritual warfare as Loyola taught us in the Spiritual Exercises is all around us, influencing us in ways that we cannot even fathom. As an example, and I know it has been beat to death, take the example of the Halloween mass that caused such a stir. The Priest dressed as Barney and invited the parishners up for a Barney blessing. At least one of the Extraordinary Ministers was dressed up as Satan. They thought nothing of it and saw nothing wrong with it. In fact the Priest seemed to be of the mindset that such gentle actions were healthy and showed that they, the community had no fear of Lucifer or more likely, no belief in him as an entity at all.

Why would that be?

In the Spiritual Exercises, it is brought out that Lucifer often will come disguised as an angel of light and allow or even require people to believe that they are doing Gods work while they are really doing Lucifers. Often, this will go on for years and the person so affected will never know even that the is really serving Lucifer, not God.

But the Spiritual Exercise are hundreds of years old written in another time when beliefs about religion were more primitive, and thus have fallen out of favor to many. I’m not even sure they are still used and a required part of Jesuit formation and training… Antiquated ideas properly spurned by modern man in all his radiant glory and achievement no doubt…

How vain we are and how blind we can be.

You know what? I think I agree with you that maybe we should go back to getting communion on the tongue. I have seen some scary things happen to the host over the past few months, and it really concerns me.

Now don’t any of you think I’m goin’ traddy on you, or anything like that! I still love my NO mass, with the guitar music, drums, tamborines, and hand-holding, jean-wearing mass.😃 I guess I am worried about the treatment of the holy eucharist, however.
Tamborines, jeans, guitars, is only a symptom of a downgrading of the Mass in general. Why not walk away with the host and take it home and maybe place it on your home altar? It seems that anything goes today why not this? Why condemn someone for doing this when one cannot even respect God by showing up on Sunday wearing ones best? We certainly wouldnt go to a concert in jeans would we? We certainly wouldnt go to a special dinner date in jeans would we? Then why would we go into God’s house in slovenly clothes and expect God to respect our choices?
Walking away with the Eucharist is a result of the laxity now found in the new order Mass and the relaxation of Mass attending norms.

 wow, what a very odd story. My goodness. This is something that happens a lot where you are?
Yes, it does:crying: We have a continous problem with non-Catholics, usually non-Christians receiving the Host. Many see it as a souvenier to take home and show their frineds, family etc. The priest has tried everything…from announcements before Mass, to announcements during the homily, to more announcements before Communion. He also brings up the subject a few Sundays before our peak visitor times so the regular members of the parish will know what to do when they bring visitors to Mass but it still happens. We don’t have EMHCs at this parish, Communion is always given by a priest (we seem to have many priests), people are very respectful in their behaviour in the church but it’s just the number of visitors we get. There are aprox. 1,000,000 Catholics in Japan out of a population of 120,000,000 so most people have never been in a church let alone a Catholic church.

My goodness, you do have a very difficult problem indeed! Perhaps you might need some EMHCs to keep an eye out. It mybe the only solution. This would make me a nervous wreck!

This is interesting and I will have to talk to my older daughter about this. She absolutely loves the Japanese culture and has been taking Japanese all through highschool, she is in her senior year and can speak a bit of it. She has been wanting to visit over there for several years now.

Wow! I didn’t know this was so common. On Easter Sunday I too saw someone return to their pew with the Eucharist! However, I didn’t know what to do/say because I was stunned. I have also seen people take the host and then dip into the Precious Blood. Is this o.k.?

That’s called intinction and it can only licitly be done by the priest who would then put the host on the tongue. We are not allowed to do it ourselves.

Unfortunately, it was the norm for receiving Communion under both species in several parishes I’ve been in over the years and it has been a hard practice to stop – the only sure way would be to not offer the Precious Blood.

Thanks for bringing it up. I was looking for something to put in the bulletin this week. Since I’ve noticed a few people doing this in recent weeks I guess it’s time for another ā€œPlease refrain fromā€¦ā€

When you have only 2 couples with many kids and the rest have maybe 1 or 2? Hmm there is a good chance some are contracepting, but do we hear that from the pulpit? Scylla
And likely aborting too if they are using ā€œthe pillā€ since the pill acts occasionally as an abortifacient. Many women have procured abortions that they are unaware of by using the pill.

it has been a hard practice to stop – …"
Its not that hard to stop…Our priest had ā€œtrainingā€ for EMHCs and instructed them to place their hand over the chalice if an ā€œdunkerā€ came along. If a EMHC was caught allowing the practice they were FIRED. I know our priest would simply ignore a fired EMHC if they still came up to distribute…or he would ask them to leave the sanctuary. THis practice and enforcement has completely and totally eliminatred intiction. It hasn’t happened in Years.

There is a very high rate of fertility problems today – why assume use of contraception?

That would require a priest who cares.

I think if a host is misused by mass participants or even taken to a Satanic ritual we should not be too distressed. We should definitely try and stop that behavior but we should not let it disturb us too much.

Think of it as Christ reliving the moments of suffering of his crucifixion and the mercy and grace that come from it. No matter what people do to try and disrespect or misuse a host, good will be derived from it since they are in effect recreating calvary.

But I certainly would not want to be the person responsible for the misuse.

Please rethink that thought.

We should be willing to protect the Blessed Sacrament with our lives if necessary, just as Saint Tarcisius offered his life protecting The Eucharist that he was taking to the sick. He was assaulted because of the Blessed Sacrament that he was carrying and chose death rather than allowing desecration of the Host.

No one should ever, ever condone blasphemy in any way shape or form no matter how much we could think to ā€œjustifyā€ the action.

Rather, we should attempt to ā€œrelieveā€ the sufferings of Christ in his Passion by our actions to prevent any form of sacriledge.
I wouldn’t want to face Christ and explain to Him why I allowed His sufferings to continue.

I agree and I said that we should try and stop it, I was just referring to those cases where we can’t stop it since we don’t know about it. We should know that regardless of what happens God will work some good from it.

Remember also that it was the will of God that Christ was crucified for us and our sins. Christ rebuked those who tried to stop it. Not that we should not stop the abuse of the hosts but we should also know that Christ’s suffering is the way of our salvation.

If it were up to me I would require communion on the tongue only, but it isn’t so I have to live with whatever the current rules are. I personally receive on the tongue and genuflect beforehand but I can’t expect everyone else to if that is not the rule.

Perhaps God, through the bishops, allows communion in the hand for a purpose, whatever it may be. Maybe to discern people’s reverence, to show how Judgmental we can be towards those who receive differently, to relive the suffering at cavalry, who knows?

Sorry, I don’t mean to derail this thread, however have you considered that maybe the pill is responsible for some of the fertility problems…even if they are not currently using it? People who use the pill are in effect taking a perfectly functioning bodily system and breaking it (among other things), so why would it be so hard to believe that fertility problems could come from previous use of the pill? I am one of those ā€œfertility problemsā€, and I grieve that I may have caused it myself before I knew any better.
Sorry for the aside, but I had to say it.

It does not account for those who have fertility problems who never use the pill.

It becomes too easy to blame such things just as it is too easy to assume the worst of others.

I have had to do the same thing twice. Once a young man walked away to his friends pew. He was bending over the pew and talking to his friends with the Holy Eucharist hanging down from one of his hands. I spoke to him and told him the expected convention to the horror of my son who is perpetually embarrassed by his mother.

Are we doing the correct thing by being Eucharist Ministers? I have recently come to understand we should only be doing this in very specific situations. An comments?

I think the church should do something about this…

Just in our parish alone, I have been a witness of three desecration incidents towars the holy eucharst…

one instance was a few years ago. I saw this man approach the holy altar to recieve Communion. He recieved it with his hands and then he ran as fast as he could… I noticed the man and I excused myself from the mass and started running after the guy! I jumped over him, retriving the Holy eucharst from his hands. Later I found out that he was a member of a satanic cult in our place…

Our Lady warned us about this… In her message to a visionary in Italy (sorry, can’t remember the name), She told us: ā€œI weep for so many desecrations of the Eucharist… My heart bleeds because of these ungreatful men… Pray for their conversion and offer many sacrificesā€¦ā€
