Haha. Finally I have something wonderful to say about my cuzin. How do you encourage someone to continue to pursue their faith? My cousin was not the kindest person before she acknowledged the truth, now she knows God she sees how sinful and imperfect she is and the rest of the world, she has told me she wants to deny Christ, even attempted to commit a sin that will excommunicate her thoroughly from the Catholic Church ( I WILL NOT MENTION). Why is that God is harshest on those who seek him? The ignorant live happily in their sins without ever acknowledging Christ. I wonder what’s so good about knowing God either. This may be pride, every time I go to confession and beat myself up for “tiny” sins, I always think why should I feel bad – when there are people 10xs worse who do not feel a thing about their sins, refuse to repent, or think I am foolish for beating myself upon for relatively minor transgressions. If God does not tolerate even a white lie, what does He do super serious sins?
I feel the same way. I think God is a lovely, romantic idea. I do not think He is real. If He is, where is He then? I do not understand why God gives us free-will, but ultimately we must do what He tells me to do.
Maybe I cannot stand a view of God like this because I am come from a relatively strict household. I understand why it is important to listen and obey your parents, but at the same time, my parents never really gave me any room to explore.
God makes us imperfect. then punishes us for, it?
NO I am not looking an argument.
Nothing I do feels “good enough” for God. I could say 100 Hail Maries, one impure thought then I am damaged. I still do not understand why masturbation is a mortal sin. Who does it harm anyway?

I will pray for you and your cousin. If you want to believe in God, you should talk to Him. You can just tell Him what’s on your mind. He does love both you and your cousin. He loves everyone and doesn’t want anyone to go to Hell, but He leaves us the choice for us to reject Him. I don’t like that I have free will either, but it’s just a part of His plan–one we cannot hope to truly understand in this life.

It would also be a great idea to read about miracles like the ones that occurred in Guadeloupe and Fatima and Eucharistic miracles. Reading such things helped me not to doubt.

Also, you don’t have to beat yourself up for your sins. That is NOT a requirement to be forgiven and venial sins do not even require Confession.

Some people seem happy in their sins, in fact you’re right some probably are, but in the world to come, those might just be the same sins that prevent them from entering heaven. God isn’t hard on us because He hates us, He calls us to become closer to Him because He wants us to be with Him in heaven. Also, becoming holy, or at least trying, can lead to peace in the midst of the worst trials, because it breeds trust in God. I know for me, knowing God, has brought me so much, more than I can even comprehend. He has become a father and a friend to me. He knows we’re sinners, and He knows we will never be perfect, but He also knows we are trying. He does not force us to do anything, He is a gentleman. If people do not accept Him in this life, He doesn’t force them to be with Him in the next life. We will never be “good enough”, I know I am no where even close to that, but we are still loved beyond belief, He still says we are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Masturbation is a sin, because it takes God’s plan for intimacy between a husband and wife, and makes it one sided. Here is a website that can explain it better than I can. chastityproject.com/qa/whats-wrong-with-masturbation-i-think-of-it-as-getting-rid-of-your-temptations-without-leading-anyone-into-sin/

I’m praying for you.
