Wow, am I confused. My wife and I are converting and just starting the journey. I’m trying to “fake it 'til I make it” and don’t know anything about fasting.

What would I be required to do If the conversion was complete?

What should I do?

If it matters I’m 63 years old. :o

Thanks in advance and God bless you.

adults between 18 and 59 are expected to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, 2 small meals, 1 larger meal nothing in between meals except liquids. Abstinence, refraining from meat of warm blooded animals or poultry is for all those over 14, required on Ash Wed. and all Fridays of Lent. No one who is pregnant or has health conditions such as diabetes that make either discipline not advisible is required to follow these disciplines. Check the parish bulletin from last Sunday or your diocesan website for the rules in your diocese. We work on the attitude: humility, obedience and penance which are supposed to be the aims of the discipline. Also we do it with joy and without grumbling and without a lot of discussion.

Thank you for the fast (and complete) answer, Annie. I appreciate your help.

Is sin committed if one does not abstain from meat on Friday of Lent? In other words, is this grave matter or just suggestion?
