Hello,

Hoping someone can answer my question. My husband and I have been married for five years and recently welcomed our first child. He comes from a non-practicing Baptist father and a somewhat lapsed reform Jewish mother. I come from a very devout Catholic family. Before we decided to get married, I made it known that it was very important to me to raise our children in the Catholic faith, of course, including Baptism. He agreed. I am now wondering if it will beat all possible for my daughter to be baptized when my husband is a non-practicing Jew? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes. As long as there is reason to believe the child will be raised Catholic, any priest will, and must baptize her.

As long as you intend to raise your child Catholic, your husband’s religion (or lack thereof) is irrelevent.

Congratulations on you daughter! Go see your priest!

God Bless

Yes, go speak to your priest. You will likely have to take a baptism preparation class first and there you will learn a lot more answers to questions you may have.

My husband isn’t of any religion and my son was baptized in the summer.
