I’m a convert from protestantism. I was Baptised in 2013. I was 28. I was Baptised with the same problems you mentioned plus alcoholism. I was worried about getting Baptised as well because of my sins. I had been indulging in porn and all that comes with it for many years. And I was a drunk. These sins were habitual and addictions.

I got Baptised anyway. God set me free from these addictions. I have not looked at porn since I was Baptised in 2013, only messed up once in 2014 with masturbation and I dont get drunk anymore. My desire to get drunk went away right after Baptism.

I’m not saying it will be as easy for you. Maybe God wont do this for you but what if He does? What if you firmly resolve to never do those sins again and He gives you the grace to do it? You will never get Baptised if you wait yo “be ready” Let God help. Merry Christmas.

The church is, or is intended to be, a hospital for admitted sinners. And the cure time isn’t necessarily immediate, and much reoccurring illness may need to be struggled with. Anyway, Jesus tells us He came to heal the sick, not the healthy.
