About a month or so ago, i had a frequent conflict which was verbal with my dad about me hanging out with a long time friend. I didnt like that Idea because I dont have many friends and didnt want to spend nights alone. However I know that my dad just said that because he is concerned about me drinking when i am with these groups of friends. Well one month later and i can say my father is right. i have been drinking alot, have stopped reading the word, and have been isolated from my parents. i want to live right again, but not alone. these friends i have had for ever but i know its no good,

Tell your dad what you just told us.

Get involved with other things. Maybe you and dad can hang out sometimes.

Trust your dad. What’s more, if you want to please God, honor him. As for your friend, there’s an old saying: * Tell me who you hang out with, and I’ll tell you who you are*

Realize that drinking excessively to the point of getting drunk is an offense against God. This is because your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. God dwells in us when we are in the state of grace. Mortal sin destroys our state of grace and God ceases to dwell in us. The day is coming when your parents will no longer be around; so honor them and make them happy while they are still alive.

It’s easy to do what everybody is doing or to follow the trends and give into peer pressures. But It takes courage to do the right thing. Maybe it is time to make new friends. Remember, strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet. 😉

You know the first thing Alcoholics Anonymous say for you to do is separate yourself from your friends. Because you are who you hang out with. I know it’s hard to hear, but if your friends are concerned with drinking you really don’t need that in your life. I understand the fear of being alone, but perhaps you should try something healthy and sober. Join a club or group that you have an interest in (acting, sports, politics) trust me you will make friends and they will have a positive influence in your life. Your friends I’m sorry to say do not sound like they are a good influence in your life and like my grandpa says you can never bring people up, they can only drag you down. I’d hate for you to fall into drinking again because I know that’s how people develop the disease of alcoholism. God has given you a wake up call when you began realizing that you were drinking too much. Don’t ignore it, be thankful for it…cause many people are not fortunate and they end up ruining their lives because of it.

Your father is right and guess what…you have your dad…I wish I could say that. Trust me you are never alone when you have God and family. Talk with your dad, tell him what has happened. No one should ever be estranged from their family, because you will have numerous friends throughout your life…but you only have one family.

I know it will be tough, but trust me. You can make new friends and you will look back and be thankful that you did.

Are you too proud to say, ''Dad, you were right?" Say it! Your dad will say something like, “I don’t care if I am right, I just don’t want to see you get hurt, son.”

And all will be well.

🙂

Man if all I could do was just say sorry to my dad to have him back in my life…I’d go out and buy a big boat with the words “I’m sorry” on it. 😃
