I’ve been struggling inside a lot lately, wondering if I am going to go to hell. Today I came across this quote

He who wishes to love God does not truly love Him if he has not an ardent and constant desire to suffer for His sake.
–St. Aloysius Gonzaga

I don’t have a “ardent and constant” desire to suffer. Does this mean I can’t be saved? I know many saints have said that the elect are few. Are there any that say that God may save a great many in the end?
THanks

If you’re concerned about going to hell I would seek the counsel of a priest.
Mary.

I found some web site about padra pio after seeing a thread on this site about people saying more will go to hell then heaven. I perfer to believe Padra Pio then other saints simply because he was a mistic and knew and saw things that most of us and alot of other saints simply didn’t see.

caccioppoli.com/Close%20encounters%20of%20Padre%20Pio%20with%20deceased%20souls%20in%20Purgatory,%20Guardian%20Angel,%20devil.%20His%20own%20words%20on%20temptation,%20virtues,%20life…html

Gerardo De Caro had long conversations with Padre Pio in 1943. In his written notes he testifies:

“You will be surprised to find in Paradise souls you never expected to be there.”

"I believe that not a great number of souls go to hell.

God loves us so much. He formed us at his image. God loves us beyond understanding.

And it is my belief that when we have passed from the consciousness of the world,

when we appear to be dead, God, before He judges us, will give us

a chance to see and understand what sin really is.

And if we understand it properly, how could we fail to repent?"

Seeing this makes me feel better.

Also i saw this:

One day Padre told his doctor: “I’m praying for the good death of my great-great grandfather”. But he died more than one hundred years ago!"

“Remember that for God there is no past and no future, and everything is present. So God made use at that time of the prayers I’m saying now.”

So this to me says that it is never to late to pray for the slavation of another person

You should consult a priest to talk to him about that.
God is entirely Love.

Not everybody has the same capacity of suffering, so the Lord will keep that in consideration.

I was in the same fear this summer.
