I am not pro-choice when it comes to abortion but a very slim minority of abortions are acceptable.
This position is contrary to the Teaching of the Church. IF you depart on this, then maybe people are concerned that you depart on others as well?
I am pro-homosexual-marriage but I do not support homosexual intercourse and I do not support taking away choice from priests.
The former statement is also a departure from Church Teaching, The latter statemetn is likely coming from ignorance, but is still in error.
Code:
They should get the marriage from whomever they find willing to perform the marriage. These are very minor views within the Catholic Church however and nothing that I have said in any way violates church teaching.
No, Maria, they are serious moral issues, and are not “minor”.

It may be that you have been able to keep your heresies to yourself, so that you are not leading the youngsters astray. I hope and pray this is the case.

If other parishioners have heard expressions like these from you, they might well be concerned that their kids will have their morals corrupted by exposing them to you.
You are simply ignoring the fact that I have been threatened and attacked because people do not want me as the Youth Minister. If you condone violence then you are not a Catholic.
No, but you are not responsible for what other people do. They are. No amount of immorality or heresy on your part justifies violence.

Judgment is not reserved for God Maria. You yourself are obviously quite prepared to make all kinds of judgments of others, so really, you’re being a hypocrite, aren’t you?

Do you really think that a Catholic has a duty/right is to avoid suffering? Is that being Christ-like? Take a look at a crucifix dear. Jesus loves you that much, but he also asks you to love him in return and to share in his cross, to not be afraid of suffering, of denying yourself. It’s not easy, especially for someone in your situation, but we’re called to trust in Him, that He will provide.
Suffering on the cross, doesn’t include iclude refraining from fixing medical and other problems one has to deal with. Telling her she has to live as a man is no different from telling me it’s a sin for me to prevent a 37th kidneystone from forming inside of me.

Naturally! From our point of view, one is wrong the other is utterly and completely abhorrent!
And from God’s point of view also.
But…since both are sins, does that not mean that in reality, both the thief and the paedophile (and the practicing homophile for that matter) have rebelled against God?
And that, from an RC point of view, that they will both die in a state of mortal sin?
Yes and yes.
So my question is: Does the RC church claim that one mortal sin is more “mortal” than another mortal sin? Does committing one kind of mortal sin mean being MORE in a state of mortal sin than committing another type of mortal sin?
No and no. But that doesn’t mean that committing one kind of sin doesn’t produce greater depravity of the soul than another. There are many mansions in heaven and hell and they’re not all the same. If you commit a criminal code infraction, you’ve committed a criminal code infraction - but that doesn’t mean that the punishment is the same for all crimes, for stealing a TV and for killing someone, for example.

I am more concerned with her erroneous beliefs, especially with her being a youth minister, then I am about how she chooses to deal with her medical issues

I admit I am also extremely curious what kind of parish she is in with a priest that would defend someone with her beliefs being a youth minister

She has some very good beliefs to be sure. But that does not excuse her blatant heretical beliefs

You should not have been threatened or attacked. I agree, that was wrong

You should also not be a minister, as your sexual orientation is incompatible with such a position
I agree, violence, and the condoning of it is not Catholic.

However, I don’t think ministry must be closed as a result of sexual orientation. There is no requirement that persons who experinece same sex attractions cannot minister. In fact, they can be very helpful to others in the congregation that may be struggling with similar feelings.

I had posted that when I thought she was actually in a homosexual marriage. This darn forum won’t let you go back and edit posts 🤷

However, NOW I think she should not be a minister due to some of her erroneous beliefs

This does not belong in this topic, but I will bite. Homosexual acts implies homosexual intercourse not homosexual marriage.
I dunno, Maria, if you are starting a war on Catholic Teaching, this seems like as good a topic as any!

No, homosexual acts does NOT “imply intercourse”. It means any sexual contact between persons of the same sex. It does include genital contact, but is not limited to that.

There is no such thing as “homosexual marriage”. Marriage is the union of one man, and one woman.

Two homosexuals living together does not necessarily imply that there is any sin going on, but it does present a scandal to the community, if there exists the appearance of impropriety.
Also, the teaching of the Catholic Church should not be civil law.
REally? Why not? Is there something wrong with it?
Code:
People should not take the Bible line-for-line just as well as they should not take the Catechism line-for-line.
Perhaps you erroneously believe that people who accept the bible as a whole will accept these non-Catholic positions of yours?
An important thing, the Catholic Church was not founded to reject scientific fact or biblical text. This exact grouping of words rejects scientific fact and biblical text.
No, Maria, they don’t The purpose of the Church is to be the pillar and foundation of the Truth. The Church does not reject scientific fact, nor does she allow moral decisions to be governed by it.

Wrong. I am a virgin and I have chosen a life of celibacy.
Well, this is great news Maria! I commend you for a difficult choice. It also seems that a life of celibacy has chosen you. 😉

Given this, I am mystified why some people have objections to you serving in ministry? Do they not realize you have chosen to obey God’s commandments, in spite of your personal inclinations?

this is a personal question, but I wonder if I misunderstood your statement that you are “transexual”. This term is used for those who have had surgery (or are planning to) to alter their gender.

What behavior? I don’t have sexual intercourse. Everyone is in a state of mortal sin and all mortal sins are just as disturbing.
No, Maria, no Catholic should be in a state of mortal sin. If they are, then they need to remove themselves from it ASAP.

I agree, some mortal sins are more disturbing.

Have you ever considered describing yourself according to the way God sees you, rather than according to your sexuality?

That surgery changes physical sex, not gender. Gender is between the ears, sex is between the legs.

But is a sexual tendency a belief?

She seems to have chosen the ‘straightest’ path for her sexuality by entering into a relationship with a man.

Unless she teaches anything other than Church teaching regarding sexuality (or regarding anything for that matter), I don’t see the problem.

And Maria:
I am very sorry for your situation. Many Catholics need a lesson in charity and upon whom God makes the rain fall.

Any form of sexual lust is a mortal sin. 90% of men are gonna go to hell, I guess.
Do you think that men are more lustful, just because they experience lust differently than women? This seems like a very prejudicial remark to make.

Gee, this is a sad situation, really. Parents do have the right to expect that their children not be subjected to a situation that they disapprove of. They should handle themselves with more restraint . Maybe quietly withdraw their children under protest to the pastor?

I’m really sorry that MariaTS is as conflicted as he/she is. This is a person who is craving love and acceptance in their brokeness, we should all pray for MariaTS.

Code:
Would it matter if I was in a homosexual marriage?
Indeed yes!
And, I am not currently in a homosexual marriage. Also, if I were to marry anyone it would be impossible for me to be in a homosexual marriage since I am neither female nor male. More female than male but not entirely female. I currently have a boyfriend that I intend to marry but that doesn’t mean anything other than I am lucky to be in a mutually loving relationship.
If you are describing your physical condition here, then this answers my previous question, thanks 👍

I should have specified. I am not starting a war on Catholic Teaching, I am stating what people believe I am doing. Fine, I will give you that on Marriage. Civil Unions are different then. Any sexual contact between individuals of the same sex? That rules out a doctor delivering a baby since most of those doctors are female. A true scandal to the community is the existence of assumptions.

Do you think that men are more lustful, just because they experience lust differently than women? This seems like a very prejudicial remark to make.
No, I do not believe this. I am simply stating that if sexual sins are bad then all of it must be bad. And 90% of men engage in masturbation so are 90% of men going to hell?

First of all, I’m not a he/she, I’m a she. Second of all, I am not broken.

Okay, I’ll describe myself according to how God sees me. I am God’s daughter whom He loves very much and of whom He gave many challenges to overcome and make the world a better place so that no one has to give in to hatred.

You are right: In the end, they are both mortal sins and they both have the ultimate consequence of leading to spiritual death. I said what I said from a more human point of view than from God’s point of view.
God also recognizes greater and lesser (degrees) of sin. 👍

Some mortal sins are more grave than others.
