A friend told me that Anne Frank, the young girl who wrote a diary while hiding from the Germans during the occupation of Holland and ended up dying in a concentration camp, though of Jewish origin was in fact a Catholic born in a Catholic family. Does anybody know if it is true?

No, it is not true. Anne Frank’s family was Jewish, and they did not become Christians of any kind. The Franks were not especially observant Jews, although Anne’s mother and sister tended to be more devout than Anne or her father. I have to wonder if your friend has actually read Anne Frank’s diary, since the diary itself makes clear the family’s religious identity and level of observance.
