Was Catholic, left, want to come back

Hello everyone,

I am scared to ask this because I’m afraid I will be told I cannot come back.

I was Catholic and then left and became Jewish. My personal life fell apart and things kept bringing me back around to the Catholic Church. After several years I realized that I never should have left the church and I want to come back. Is it too late for me?

No its not too late.

“A man had two sons, and the younger son said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of your estate that should come to me.’ So the father divided the property between them. After a few days, the younger son collected all his belongings and set off to a distant country where he squandered his inheritance on a life of dissipation. When he had freely spent everything, a severe famine struck that country, and he found himself in dire need. So he hired himself out to one of the local citizens who sent him to his farm to tend the swine. And he longed to eat his fill of the pods on which the swine fed, but nobody gave him any. While he was still a long way off, his father caught sight of him, and was filled with compassion. He ran to his son, embraced him and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you; I no longer deserve to be called your son.’ But his father ordered his servants, ‘Quickly bring the finest robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet.Take the fattened calf and slaughter it. Then let us celebrate with a feast, because this son of mine was dead, and has come to life again; he was lost, and has been found.’ Then the celebration began.” --Luke 15:11-24

Go to the nearest Parish and talk to the Preist. Welcome Home.

Yes, you can come back. Please do. Contact your local priest and talk to him about it (it’s probably best to make an appointment so he’ll have the time to talk to you in depth). Generally, there’s very little to do to return, and it’s all manageable. So welcome back!

No, it’s not 🙂 There are reverts (people who come back to the Roman Catholic faith) in the Church. 😃
 
Welcome (back) home, we missed you! Make an appointment with a priest for confession and come back to Mass. 🙂
 
Several friends of mine described their situations which are very similar to yours.

One of my friends asked me what to do. I gave him the same advice as others have posted here.

Go to confession. "Bless me, father for I sinned. It has been 30 years since my last confession … "

I told my friends that I would bet that the priest will say, “Welcome back”.

And they all came to me later, all smiles, and said, "the priest said ‘welcome back!’ "
 
Thanks so much! It was a very emotional thing to read those welcome backs. I have an appt thurs with the priest and I’m going to receive the sacrament of reconciliation. How precious and how wonderful. I missed my Lord and I missed my Mother!

I made a confession of 37 years.

YOU CAN DO EEEET!!!

We’ll have Father consecrate an extra host for ya. 👍

Mine was 41 years…and it was the best thing I could have done!
