Was Christ beautiful?

It seems :o to me that his appearance would have been homely, in keeping with his station in this life, his circumstances in this life, and in keeping with the nature of his mission in this life . That is to say ( and please do feal free to correct me if I am mispercieving things ) his family was a peasant family, his occupation was one of hard labor - have you ever seen what poverty and 30 years of hard labor does to a persons looks in the third world for example? - and as for the, " in keeping with his mission" part, while it does not say so in so many words in skripture, it seems to me that a part of his mission to this world was to EXPERIENCE for himself the vissictudes of human life. He could have sat on his butt in heaven and just pontificated, but he didn’t. What single thing, more than any other, that finally convinced me of Christs legitimacy and the veracity of scripture , and that christianity is the true faith, is that god became man, that the devine became human. He experienced poverty, in his final two days he even became a pariah and a convicted felon, experienced torture, even died and went to hell.
So I think he would have been ugly.
Which, as someone else suggested, would also explain why the disciples didn’t recognize him after the ressurection.

I imagine that he was healthy, strong, and free from any particular physical defects, cosmetic or otherwise. On the other hand, I see no reason to assume that his stature, eye color, skin tone, etc. were unusual in any way for the area.

Furthermore, I believe that he was clean and neat in appearance, and wore clothing that was very well made by the skillful hands of his mother. However that clothing was of conventional style, made with inexpensive materials, not ornate or decorated.

Whether a person like that would be considered beautiful of course depends on the standards of the judge. Certainly the powerful must have thought his appearance too plain and simple, lacking in taste or sophistication. In particular, he did not emulate the style favored by the scribes or rabbis, much less that of the rulers or military officers. On the other hand, he did not seem to wear the “hair shirt” or other penitential garments sometimes associated with prophets. Instead, he wore simple and ordinary garments, like a carpenter might have worn while working.

For me, beauty orginates from the soul and is shown through their demeanor.

Mother Theresa even in her decrepit form was beautiful.

Jesus with His perfect soul would be beautiful, just like His mother is.
