I recently attended Mass while vacationing. When it came time for the Consecration, the Priest never made the Sign of the Cross over the bread or wine. He did say the prayers where the congregation replies, “Blessed be God, forever.” I am concerned that this was not a valid way of consecrating the Host. Did I receive our Lord or not?
Thank you in advance for your answer and your prayers.

Dear G,

Even though the priest should have made the sign of the crosss as the rubrics require, as long as he intended what the Church intends by the words of consecration which he said, the consecration was valid.
