Title pretty much gives it away. Was Leonardo Davinci a Roman Catholic?

Most Italians in his time were Catholic.

Da Vinci’s art also gives it away - most famously his “Last Supper”. I think he also did some art for the Pope.

I know very little otherwise, but I think his art and science have been the focus of attention in encyclopedias etc, rather than his religion as such. It’s too bad, too! I’m sure his religion was a great motivation for his art.

DaVinci lived and died before the Reformation, and did not live in the East. So there was only one Church in his day.

Granted that (1) the Protestants haven’t invented themselves yet when Leonardo di Ser Piero da Vinci was born - the 15th of April 1452, and that (2) Leonardo was from the Tuscan town of Vinci in the territory of Florence, Italy (where most people were Catholic), then we can say that yes, Leonardo is Catholic by birth.
