I didnt go to Mass this week because I was on holiday.I really wanted to,but I just didnt.I didnt ask them to take me…I felt terrible about it, and I worshipped God just the same as if I had been in church.I would hate to do anything thats not Gods will, and I was stupid not to go to Mass…how can I make it up to Jesus? Was this a sin and do I need to go to Confession?

It is a sin not to attend mass on Sunday (or Saturday Vigil). Normally. If you were in a place where there was no way to attend mass, you could talk to your priest, explain your circumstances, and probably get a dispensation (don’t know if that’s really the case after the fact). So there are some questions you should ask yourself:
  1. Where were you that you couldn’t attend mass? If you were someplace with no RC Church in the vicinity, I believe it’s ok
  2. Was there a way for you to find transport, but just didn’t do it? Bus or taxi or something could have gotten you there.
Some examples: If you were in Orlando at DisneyWorld, and you chose not to go because you wanted to get to the park early, that’s not OK. You could research where the nearest Church is, find a mass you can attend, and go.

If you were in the Appalachian Mountains, where Catholic Churches are scarce, you might be given dispensation.

Always, always try to plan a trip so you can attend Mass. It’s our obligation to do so, whenever possible.

At any rate, talk to your priest, tell him the full circumstances. If he finds you’ve committed a sin, go to reconciliation, firmly resolve not to do this again, and stick to it.

God Bless You.

If there was a way for you to get to church, and you just didn’t go, then I would go to confession, and ask God to give you grace to not sin again.
