Hello,
Recently my Sister asked me to be the Godfather of her 11 month old infant.
The incredibly sad part is that she is presently involved in a divorce drama with her husband of 2 years.
Now I was graciously accepting of the honour when she first asked me, but after about a week of thinking it over, I called her up and declined - not because I don’t want the baby raised Catholic - or anything like that, but because I feel horribly uncomfortable being involved in the suitation in general, due to the emotionally charged Divorce drama.
Now I’m sure she found somebody else to fill the position, and I honour and respect that; any baptism would have my blessings.
But was it wrong for me to decline to be my nephew’s Godfather because I would feel uncomfortable doing so?
Any help would be appriciated.
