When I was growning up, I used to see out throught my bedroom window at the neighbors houses ablaze with Christmas lights, however, there was one house that had something in addition to the multicolored quota of lights on the house–a handbuilt cross built of wood, covered in foil and lit with blue lights, also in the shape of the cross, the lights in the center of the said cross , in the same cross pattern. Now what iId like to know is: is such a thing un Christmas like, that it dosen’t go together with the Christmas theme, that it goes better with, say Easter or whatever? Can someone clue me in on all that?

No, since Christmas is not only the memorial of Christ’s birth; it’s also the anticipation of the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, when all of us will be resurrected from the dead, either into Glory or into Hell.

I think your neighbors were doing just fine, and were probably more clued in to the meaning of the season than most other people.

How I wish this was a standard vs, the exception. During Advent we await the birth of our Christ, Christmas day well celebrate that birth. The cross, especially to Catholic, is a sign not only of the death of Christ, but his resurrection, and his return. Whenever I see a cross, I immediately think of Christ - the true meaning of Christmas.

Thanks a heap. My mom thought a cross didn’t go together with Christmas, but after hearing from you, it’s a load off my mind.
