Hi all.

Well, basicly to make a long story short, I live with my uncle and Grandmother. My Uncle is a unemployed 50 year old marijuana user and he drinks on weekends. He brought a friend of his over to the house today. I did not trust this man so I started talking to him alittle to get to know him. After afew minuets he pulled out some Marijuana. So I told him to get out and as he was leaving I told him very calmly but sternly “If you ever come back here, me and you are going to have a problem”. Was I wrong in this at all??? I ask because I want to know if I commited a sin in making a threat toward this man. Or is it justified, because I really dont want him or his drugs around my Grandmother, regardless of if he has a “Marijuana Card” or not. I just did not trust him. Also, my uncles is now out of this house.

If he has legal access to medical marijuana and the person of authority in the house knew that and was fine with him using it there you were out of line.

I am sorry for your living situation and will pray for your family.

I don’t know that what you said to this man was necessarily sinful as much as it was unwise. I would be cautious in making threats to someone you don’t know. As he is a drug user he could also be a criminal in other ways or perhaps even own a weapon or be a violent person. The best course of action may be to call the police, however I don’t know much about your family situation, are you responsible for the home and for taking care of your grandmother? Do you have the authority to make your uncle move out?

Again, sorry your family life seems so sad, prayers for all of you please take care.
I hear you. And I thank you for your prayers. Im not worried about that guy, I am a ex felon and criminal myself and believe me, he is no threat. I just dont want him around my house.I know that is wrong that I can resort back to my old ways 😊 But it is what is it. you know. I dont think this man will be back. I just wanted to know if I commited a sin.

Confused here. You said he has a “marijuana card”; does that mean he is legally allowed to use it?

Our actions are the real teacher to others, our words are what we wish for others, but the actions say it all.

IN a sense, our bodies are temples, and we should put nothing in it, that defies that temple of God, for it is a sin to do so. the grandfather has been self medicating himself with alcohol and drugs for years now, and, as a teacher of doing so by example, is committing a great sin , in that, teaching that to others.

Some place it says, to teach ill concepts to children, by our actions, is gong to be punished severly, and better to put the ol mill stone around ones kneck, than to suffer whats to come. that is ahuge recognition…

People in the world, have came to a great superstition in the liberalized religion, of ignoring their obligations to do without, and to not self medicated to escape from our cross we are called to bear. today continued government borrowing of money to maintain a life of luxury, is a huge example, of denial to our posterity, a huge sin on the entire nation. russia endures major self medicating issues thanks to its acceptance and condoning, the godlessness of government the last hundred years, and the US is on the same path, because people fail to stand against what is wrong, in their acceptance to superstition and ignorance, denial to God.

stand agaisnt it, for enstein said, the world is a dangerous place, not because of those that do the evil, but because of those, that fail to stand up agaisnt it…

You can now determine if you did right or wrong…but be consistent to yourself as you are wtih others. and forgive yourself for your past, God already has, and you should od the same…

bless you…

This makes it a little clearer. Sounds like you’re wanting to do what you can to make a break with an old life of sin while taking care of your grandmother, and it sounds like keeping this guy away would not be inconsistent with that.

That said, it must also be said that nobody here can really competently advise you in such a situation. I would say you should contact a priest and get his (name removed by moderator)ut in this matter.

I don’t really have a problem with what you said per se. You said it would be a problem if he came back, not that you would hurt him.

Still, a better way of handling it may have been to talk to your uncle when the friend left. I totally understand why you don’t want him there, but maybe if you explained that calmly to your uncle he would have agreed.

Do I think it was wrong, no. Could it have been handled better or differently, yes.

I don’t see as a threat more as a warning. You feel this guy is untrustworthy and then he’s about to just light up a joint in your home, you probably overreacted a tad, but I would not welcome anyone with marijuana in my house either. I probably would have reacted some what similar -as in you and your pot are not welcome here. I seriously doubt your grandmother appreciates pot use in her house. Your fine.👍 (I think with the medical cards and legalization some people are more relaxed about marijuana use. You don’t have to apologize for not being one of those people -I certainly don’t.)

I hope your grandmother has kicked your uncle out of her house. Pot-smoking and drinking - not a good environment for an older person to be in. The problem is/was your uncle, not his friend. The uncle goes, the friends go, right? So problem is solved unless Grandma lets him come back.

No, it wasn’t a sin.

Thank you. I agree, it could have been handled better. My uncle is a burn out. He has been using drugs for over 30 years so his mind is shot. Imagine a teenager in a 50 year old “mans” body. Imagine a man who never thinks he does anything wrong and you cannot reason with him because he just thinks everyone is picking on him even though he is unemployed, did not pay any rent, and never even attempted to look for a job for the past decade while the whole time using drugs. He stopped using hard drugs aparently acouple years ago, but he sees nothing wrong with Marijuana because he thinks the jews used it. But he also thinks my family is related to Jerry Garica just because my family is related through marriage to some people with the last name Garica (Newsflash, there are hundreds if not thousands of different Garcias who are not related)
He even said I was persecuting Gods church by my actions just because his friend that I kicked out claims to be a “Christian” 🤷 Would have been no use trying to reason with that guy.

Thank you. I dont disagree with all Marijuana use per-say. I think if you have cancer and are undergoing kemo, then yes, legal marijuana use might help alittle. They are not using it to get high. They are getting help for a painful exsistance. I know, because my Grandfather died of Cancer 8 months ago and was doing kemo. I watched him die a slow painful death over about a 6 month period. I am 28, I dont agree with people about my age or even 10 years younger claiming to have a bad back or a bum knee going to a crooked doctor to get a marijuana card so they can light up legally just because they like getting high. Yes, I did probably overreact a tad though. I dont regret telling the man not to come back though. And yes, my Grandmother would not appreciate pot smoking in her house. 🙂

You have my sympathy, I lost my sister to cancer many years ago and watched her go through chemotherapy -long before medical marijuana.

My state has legalized medical marijuana -its such a joke. There are Dr offices with signs advertising for medical marijuana,I get to drive past them on the way to work all the time. There are doctors out there who will give a card to anyone to make a buck. There’s raids, there’s arrests and accidents with people driving under the influence of marijuana. I even had a previous manager from work recommend I get some because I have Crohn’s disease. In a small number of cases I could agree with it but the truth is the consequences of the majority of medical marijuana users having no real need for it -just an excuse to get high really do not make up for the very few who actually could benefit. I had a chance to sit in a court room recently and listened to cases -these high-ons wreak havoc on other peoples lives.
