If signs and wonders scripture mark 16-16-20 . will occur because holy scripture says so. Just like bread and wine turns into the body and blood.

Why can’t catholics prophecy in tongues and interpretation?

Or when you pray. You get a prophetic word like in 1cor 14- 25

Its edifying to believe . but spiritual deception or political deception seem to be the answer for today’s religious understanding

Your profile and your forum name indicate that you are from an evangelical faith,
and this is your second attempt to raise this question, as I recall.

But I seriously wonder why on earth you cannot believe that the Spirit speaks quietly to so many of us Catholics in our prayers and life.
It really could be taken as quite presumptuous to hold the view that He does not. I myself could share experiences of God’s amazing Spirit in my life, thanks to God’s grace and love, but not all such things are intended for public dissemination. Sometimes Catholics do share these with each other, though, especially if such blessings can encourage others.

There are in fact many Charismatic Catholics in the Church, and many who do speak in tongues.
There was a period when I was familiar with a charismatic Catholic group in my parish, which were held in the convent there.
There were several Charismatic meetings per week, and the chapel was open at all times, as was the kitchen where anyone could come, have refreshments, chat, borrow spiritual books, and pray.
and there was all the expected elements of the gifts of the Spirit in those meetings.

There are also Catholic priests and nuns who lead Charismatic prayer meetings, healing Masses, and laying of hands. The gifts of the Spirit were there to be seen. The danger associated with overly emotional people is that they can be carried away by emotion rather than the Holy Spirit, so discernment is necessary in this area. My own archdiocese has a number of Charismatic Catholic groups. Your presumption isn’t correct. If you search you will find Catholic Charismatic books, on healing ministries and whatever.

Many Catholics go to the Sacrament of anointing in our parishes, for healing of body and soul through God’s Holy Spirit… This for Catholics is the most trusted avenue of God’s healing and blessing.

As far as transubstanciation is concerned, in answer to your last thread on the matter as well as this one, we believe Jesus own sacred words. Jesus spoke only truth, and He spoke it clearly and even bluntly. No deception in Him.

May God bless you.

In the Catholic Church, it has been understood that Spirit inspired words have come through the saints, and there have been many miracles of conversion and healing

The Church’s teaching itself is based on the Spirit’s inspiration, upon which it relies.
.
Jesus instructed His disciples, “When the Advocate comes, whom I shall send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who issues from the Father, He will be my witness. And you too will be my witnesses.” [John 15: 26-27]

When He comes, He will show the world how wrong it was, about sin…and about judgement” and “about who was in the right: proved by my going to the Father…

Jesus promised, “I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you now. But when the Spirit comes He will lead you to the complete truth…All He tells you will be taken from what is mine.” “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but indeed…to the ends of the earth.” [John 16:8-9, 12-13, 15]

Before His ascension, Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore, make disciples of all the nations; baptise them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teach them to observe all the commands I gave you. And know that I am with you always, yes even to the end of time.” [Matthew 28:17-20]

On Pentecost day, **They had all met in one room, when suddenly they heard what sounded like a powerful wind from heaven…and something appeared to them that seemed like tongues of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were filled with the Holy Spirit.” [Acts 2:2-4]

Well since that commission from Jesus, the Catholic Church has been living in the Inspiration, on the Word of knowledge, of the Holy Spirit

Making judgements about a Church about which you may know little, might seem not very charitable,
therefore you might wish to be better informed, hence a link below

The teachings of the Church, within the Catechism are based on Scripture and the Holy Spirit in the Church:

This link could be a beginning to find out the truth regarding the Church, rather than having to rely on presumptions

Then you could follow with the encyclicals, and so on

May the Holy Spirit inspire and guide you.

After reading Mark 16 16:20, this topic seems like it is specifically questioning the Jehovah’s Witnesses and their beliefs… But my belief is that it is impossible for God/Jesus/Holy Spirit/All of the above to be in any way wrong.
Verse 16 states that anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. It does not, however, give any limitations to how long we have to believe and be baptized. I believe that, even if a person does not believe or is not baptized in THIS life, does not mean to say they will not come to believe in their condemnation.
Rob Bell, in his book ‘Love Wins’ talks about hell in chapter three. He suggests that God uses eternal punishment to teach humanity the errors in their mortal lives so that their immortal souls can live perfect lives in heaven.
So yes, Jesus is right in the end of Mark’s gospel, those who do not believe will be condemned, but only for as long as they do not believe. God has all eternity to wait for that to happen…

TomMartin, you focused on the illegality of handling snakes poison in some US States. I am reminded of people known as Juggernauts (not the Marvel villain, the religion that inspired him). As an example, they are mentioned in the first chapter of The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde when Hyde tramples a little girl. The Juggernauts would hurl themselves in front of moving vehicles carrying religious artifacts. They believed that their suffering in this life would be rewarded by bliss in the next. So I suppose it is down to how you interpret the scriptures…

Jesus is NEVER wrong, humans often are.
