Was John the Baptist the greatest born of women?

My question comes from Mt 11:11. I thought Mary would be the ‘greatest born of women’ as she was conceived w/o sin and never sinner? Was John the Baptist somehow greater?

Well, Jesus was also “born of woman” yet no Christian would consider John the Baptist greater than Jesus. Jesus was speaking using exaggeration to make a point. The context in which Jesus was speaking was the greatness of prophets. People revered prophets and Jesus points out that the crowd had met the greatest prophet ever. Jesus then teaches them that the honor of being a great prophet pales in comparison to the greatness of the honor of being in the Kingdom of God.
