Was Judas a priest?

In the Catholic Church, Holy Thursday is the day that Christ instituted the priesthood. Did Judas partake of the Eucharist (breaking of the bread) on Holy Thursday and was like the other apostles in the room, was he ordained a priest by Christ?

I don’t believe so. I am not totally sure but I am thinking that Christ ordained His apostles after the resurrection in this verse:

(Joh 20:21 RSV) Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”

By this time, Judas was already dead. He had killed himself by hanging himself.

Judas lacked any true Faith in Christ; it is similar to Jesus’ mandate when He sent His disciples to preach to the children of Israel:

11 'Whatever town or village you go into, seek out someone worthy and stay with him until you leave. 12 As you enter his house, salute it, 13 and if the house deserves it, may your peace come upon it; if it does not, may your peace come back to you. 14 And if anyone does not welcome you or listen to what you have to say, as you walk out of the house or town shake the dust from your feet. 15 In truth I tell you, on the Day of Judgement it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town. (St. Matthew 10:11-15)

The Graces of the Holy Spirit could not reach Juda’s spirit since he was closed to Christ–hence, he could never have become a Priest!

Judas was a bishop whose office was taken by Matthias.

I am not contesting that there was an office vacant; what I am stating is that Judas never believed hence he could not have accepted the fellowship nor the office that came with it!

Sadly, we have many as Judas in the Church today–they refuse to obey Jesus Commandments and conciously chose to embrace the world’s doctrines… they may claim to be “Catholic” or “non-Cathlic Christian” but their actions belie their profession.
