Was Judas responsible for his part in the betrayal of Jesus (free will)?

I think it’s safe to say he was not forgiven. But did he have a choice ?

Yes he had choices.

He could have spoken to Jesus of his fears, that’s Jesus preaching was going to be bad for them because it was going against the laws at the time.

He could have not chosen to trust Jesus, but instead he figured save himself and get paid. He could have not went to the Phrases to tell them he would point Jesus out to them.

He could have warned Jesus, told Him what he did. He could have not kissed Jesus on the cheek at the end of the last supper.

Then, when it was all said and done, after the guilt of what he did became too much for him that he didnt want the money any more, he could have faced the consequences of his actions instead kill himself.

Whether or not he asked or was forgiven, we will never know.
