I understand Maegan where you are coming from. You want to hear the words " I forgive You of all of your sins" I don’t think you are being scrupulous at all. I would feel the same way and frankly, if I were in your shoes, this would bother me as well. I think if that should happen again, I would either say something, or confess to another priest, if possible, the same day.
The last 2 confessions I went to, I had the same priest and he never asked me to say the act of contrition. He gave counsel, gave me my penance and absolved me of all of my sins, but never asked me to say the act of contrition. That was a concern to me because I walked away 2 times wondering if my confession was valid. I’m just believing it was. But I totally understand where you are coming from. You want the time in the confessional to go right.
