At the time when I received the sacrament of confirmation years ago I was practicing a deadly sin. I have repented, confessed and been sober for a while. Was the sacrament valid?
 
Yes, the sacrament was valid. Our sins do not prevent the valid reception of the sacrament, however sin does block the grace of the sacrament. Once you confessed you “unblocked” the grace of the sacrament…
