Was my sunday obligation fulfilled?

tonight i went to mass which they had the mass for the ascension of our lord. tomorrow morning they will have the same mass so do i have to go tomorrow?

Absolutely, presuming it was after 4pm since you say ‘tonight’. What makes you think it wouldn’t, that’s the whole point of a vigil Mass.

Any Mass after four on Saturday afternoon. fulfills the Sunday Mass obligation. I think maybe “absolutely” was a slip of the keys and you meant hat the Mass absolutely fulfilled the obligation… Some say that any Mass after 12Noon fulfills, but I have no reassurance that that is correct.🙂 🙂 🙂 .
 
Canon Law # 1248, says an evening mass preceding the day of obligation fulfills the Sunday obligation. The commentary says “Evening should be understood as any time from 4:00 PM onward.”

Ha! 👍 I was just going to ask this question because someone else asked me and I couldn’t remember the exact time. Thanks Deacon Ed!

If you’re attending a wedding mass or something like that, the priest may grant “assurances” that it counts for Sunday. But 4pm is the general rule. Question is whether it counts for the Five First Saturdays. I think so.
